If you know what it's like to lose a friend to love, this song is for you. In rereading it, I almost can't help laughing at how melodramatic it is. That's how it feels though, I guess. I hope I can remember how to play it.
Written Fall 2001
I walk alone on this road
So close and yet so far from you
This distance here between us grows
And it's killing me
And this is how it goes
This life tears you away from me
I have to let you go
I wish this didn't have to be
I watch you walk away
And I can't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
I watch you walk away
And I won't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
I turn away from your eyes
So you can't see this pain in me
It hurts so much to say goodbye
Why must this be?
That I watch the sunset
For the last time as this night sets in
And I walk into this darkness
Never to walk out again
I watch you walk away
And I can't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
I watch you walk away
And I won't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
So go now and don't look back
This is as this must be
So go now, I wish you well
And don't you worry about me
So go now and don't look back
This is as this should be
So go now, don't cry for me
Don't make this harder than it must be
I watch you walk away
And I can't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
I watch you walk away
And I won't keep you from going
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
And I miss you more today
Than I did when you were gone
