Misfit for an Outcast

This is a song of social commentary. It a depressive, despairing story with a grain of hope. Honestly, it's one of my favorites. Pay careful attention to the end.

Written Summer 2001

Another day just like the rest
She dries her eyes and does her best
To force a smile to meet the day
She’s never known another way

She stares around her, feels confused
There’s no one there that she can turn to
She’s lost herself inside this mess
Can never fit it with the rest

As shapes around begin to blur
She feels the pain of the world laughing at her
Everything she has she’d give away
If she could just be normal for a single day

Cold and cruel this world she hates
A single Teardrop stains her face
She walks alone and hangs her head
Would anyone notice if she were...?

What have we done?
Was it really worth it in the end?
What have we done?
Can we ever know what this has been?

Fleeing under clouds of anger
Darkness crushing her forever
How much longer can she stand alone?
Another night another morning
Sun outside still isn’t shining
How much longer can she live this death?

Another day just like the rest
She dries her eyes and does her best
To force a smile to meet the day
She's never known another way
