Rain Dance
Hasn't everyone who's ever written a song written at least one song about rain? Here's mine. It has often been a favorite of many, along with "Memory."
Written Winter 2003
It's cold outside, it's storming up again
The wind blows up and in my eyes
I try to hide my thoughts from the rain
It stirs my mind, again
The rain calls my name
I can feel the rain calling my name
To bring me back to warmer days
To where the rain calls my name
I close my eyes, and yesterdays gone by
Return through time to life again
To share a smile, to listen to our lives
To walk in the dream
The rain calls my name
I can feel the rain calling my name
To bring me back to warmer days
To where the rain calls my name
I close my eyes and I can feel
The memories washing over me
Thunder rolls and lightning crashes
Like children running endlessly
Suspended out of time to be
Alone together, honestly
The world stands still to watch and see
To soak it in and be set free again
Free again
They say some things are just too good to last
I guess that's why this had to end
But perfect dreams remind me of the past
Could this be meant to be again?
The rain calls my name
I can feel the rain calling my name
To bring me back to warmer days
To where the rain calls my name
Can you feel the rain?
Can you feel the rain?
Can you feel the rain?
Can you feel the rain?
Like I said, this song is about rain. But not just any rain, because I don't like the cold, dreary rain here in America. I'm talking about the warm, heavy rains of West Africa, the ones you could smell coming while they were still miles away. This song is dedicated to Rachel, because she was the only one who, maybe—just maybe—might have loved the rain as much as I did.
